Pairing, Charging and Connecting The Apple Pencil
"Much More Easier and Efficient with the 2nd Generation Model"
Hello Everyone,
Hope you all are doing great! In this post, we'll be taking a look at how to pair, charge and connect the Apple Pencil.
But before we take a look at that, let us first talk about the compatibility of the Apple Pencil 2nd Generation so you are assured that this is the right model for the iPad you have.
The Apple Pencil 2nd Generation is compatible with:
- iPad Air 4th Generation
- iPad Pro 12.9 inch (3rd & 4th Generation)
- iPad Pro 11 inch (1st & 2nd Generation)
The Apple Pencil snaps magnetically when you bring it closer to the side of the iPad (the side with the magnetic connector). A notification/prompt will appear first, saying "Apple Pencil," and a few seconds later, the battery charging indicator along with the battery life will display. This indicates that the Apple Pencil has been paired with your iPad and that your Pencil is charging. Once paired, you can also go into the settings of your iPad and change the name assigned to your Pencil. Hereafter, every time you connect the Pencil to the iPad, the battery life will be displayed on the top of your screen (along with the charging indicator and the name assigned for the pencil) and in Widgets (Battery).
Clarification: *The Flat Side of the Pencil snaps onto the iPad*
Unlike the Apple Pencil 1st Generation, this pencil is more easier and efficient in many aspects. The previous version consisted of a cap and lightning connector in order to charge the pencil. Users had to plug the pencil into the lightning port of the iPad when charging, which received mixed reviews from users and tech enthusiasts.
Users were not able to easily charge their Pencil on the go, as they faced difficulties putting it inside their bags(while charging). It also did not look aesthetically pleasing to the eye, as well. You also had to purchase an extra magnetic sleeve to hold the pencil onto the side of your iPad, like the current Pencil. But Apple has now corrected these minor issues and has exceeded users' expectations with the 2nd model.
If you look at the design of the new Apple Pencil, it has a modern, thin and elegant look. They've now removed the lightning connector and cap, as it charges wirelessly on the go. They've also included a flat side to the Pencil(for pairing), which now makes it much to use when drawing, writing and scribbling on the iPad.
All we have to do, now, is attach the pencil onto the side of our iPad and it will automatically charge through a magnetic connection. We can easily place our Pencil into our bags, while charging, and it will automatically pair/connect itself with the iPad before use.
